Stayed around too long?

So I had planned on writing this long post chronicling various sports stars that should have retired either way earlier or not ever have come back. However, I'm tired and not in the mood so I will give the condensed soup version.

Michael Jordan should have never some back the last time. He was a shell of his former greatness.
George Foreman and Chuck Liddell, both were too old and fat to even think about competing. Then there's Patrick Ewing, Dikembe Mutumbo, Shaq, Primetime, Seau, The Great Johnny U, Jerry Rice, Ali, And Mays.

I know what you're thinking, what about Favre? The argument could be made he should have retired a couple years ago but definitely after last season epic failure but on the whole a really good season to go out on. Instead, he decided to come back one more year in which he lead the Vikes to an abominable record and also ended his Iron man streak. Jim Rome said that he always pictured Favre going out with a pick but never did he imagine it would have been on his face in a meaningless game against the Bills. Sorry Romey, normally I would be siding with you, however in this case I would hit you with a manual buzzer. EEEEEHHHHHH It is perfect he ended his career on a season like he has had. It would have been better if he never played again after that injury. All throughout 4's career, he has been known by and called the Gun Slinger. A true gunslinger continues shooting until he's out of bullets but they don't stop there. After they are just clicking through empty cartridges, they attempt to beat the person to death with the handle of his pistol. Even when they are finished, they are going to try to get one last swing in before they are taken out. So it is almost perfect how Favre's career is coming to an end. He will still make the Hall of Fame in 5 years, and this last season will be just a blip on his stat sheet. So if someone says how horrible it is that he came back and he should have retired, remind them of the Old West Duelers.
